To achieve the best effects from the films, professional
installation is key. There are different techniques of
installing car window films and none of them can be considered
incorrect. Installation can be performed without disassembling
the vehicle, or with a partial disassembly, while the film can
be ironed out using water or powder.
The technique of partial disassembly encompasses removal of side
windows, or detachment of upholstery from the door interior,
allowing the installer to apply the tint with no obstacles. This
technique is most often used by less experienced installers and it
lasts somewhat longer, by the time needed for the elements in the
vehicle to be disassembled and, following tinting, reassembled.
Even though this technology allows for a beautiful, high quality
finish of the installation, in certain types of cars – especially
those produced recently, disassembly procedure is not advised.
Therefore, installation of car tints without disassembling the
vehicle is a far safer technique.
According to many professional installers, the no-disassembly
technique is also the most efficient way of installing glass
tints. However, this technique requires more experience to allow
the film to be installed properly up to the very edges of the
glass and to be inserted behind the weather strip, while
simultaneously avoiding damage and detachment or rolling along the
film edges after installation.
When it comes to “ironing” techniques, the two that stand out are
water technique and powder technique. The water technique is used
more often, while the powder technique is used for ironing more
complicated surfaces, such as curved windshields.
You don’t have to be an expert to pick out badly installed films.
Air bubbles, wrinkle lines, dust trapped between the film and the
glass can be seen at first sight. This is why it is very important
that the installer applying the film has the adequate knowledge,
experience and professional tools at his disposal to install the
film properly.
Each serious tint shop should be certified by the film
manufacturer for installing their tints, and each installer should
have the appropriate certificate as proof that they have passed
through professional training. Llumar films are installed
exclusively in certified tint shops, by installers who have passed
the professional exam and are trained for professional film
installation.
